Psychological Target Hardening Strategies

Psychological target hardening encompasses strategies used to identify the needs of individual students in order to maintain safety. Psychological target hardening are ways schools prevent violent acts using a variety of student-focused detection (e.g., screening) and response (e.g., disciplinary approaches) tactics. There are a variety of psychological target hardening strategies that are being adopted in schools, such as: 

 

- Disciplinary Instances

- Mental Health Screenings

- Reporting "Red Flags"

- Threat Assessments
